MaxX permanent lifting magnets.

These lifters comply fully with the requirements of Australian Standard AS4991-2004 Lifting Devices.

The important question you need to ask yourself when buying a magnet is “what are you handling?”.  Every lifting magnet (regardless of design or brand) will require a particular minimum thickness to achieve its full Working Load Limit.  For example, MaxX250 has a WLL of 250kg on flat mild steel plate of minimum thickness 20mm.  For example, a piece of 20mm plate, 1.2m x 1.2m would weigh 226kg and would be ideal for handling with MaxX250.  A sheet of 4mm at 6.0m x 1.2m would weigh the same but there would be a couple of issues – first of all, at 4mm you’re not going to have nearly enough holding force to safely hold the weight of the load.  Secondly, there are further risks with a long, thin load – if the magnet is not carefully placed in the centre of the load, the unbalance weight could be enough to make the load “hinge” and drop; the other problem is that the plate will flex under its own weight and will tend to “peel” off the face of the magnet. Please contact APE before placing your order if you have any concerns.
